Baird mounting momentous comeback

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Stumbling to a meek 7-over 79 in Wednesday’s opening round of Q-School finals at Orange County National, Briny Baird entered Thursday’s second round tied for 162nd place, in dead last place.

He was down, yes, but not out.

Posting rounds of 66/69 in rounds two and three, Baird has moved up over a whopping 100 spots and currently sits tied for 50th, with the third round still drawing to a close.

Baird finished 127th on the 2010 PGA Tour money list, meaning he’ll take conditional PGA Tour membership into next year. While some players may still benefit by falling short of the top 25 in just earning Nationwide Tour status, that means it’s all or nothing for Baird to improve his privileges next year.

It looks like, after showing nothing in the first round, he’s been exhibiting his all since.
