WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. – Nick Watney was seen applying ice to his right wrist during the second round of The Greenbrier Classic on Friday, but he maintained afterward that he’ll be ready to go for Round 3.
“On the fourth hole, I was on the lip of a bunker and I made a full swing, hit the ball and right after that, the club just stopped,” he said after a 3-under 67. “It was kind of like a jolt. I wouldn’t call it a stinger, but it didn’t feel very good. It just kind of stiffened up. At first, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to do extra damage to it.”
Watney, who, at 1 under, is off the overall lead, was planning to receive treatment after the round, but was optimistic about continuing.
“It should be fine,” he said. “I’m definitely going to play [Saturday], but I just want to have it looked at and see what they say.”
