Beating the odds

As Tour-dom awaits the release of the 2011 schedule speculation over four events without sponsors has many rank-and-file players concerned over future playing opportunities.

One veteran did the math at a recent player’s meeting, pointing out that those who finished in the back half of last year’s Q-School field got about 18 starts at that point in the season.

“I said, ‘That’s not acceptable since three are opposite field with half (FedEx Cup) points and half money and five are fall events with no points and smaller money,’” the veteran said. “The (Q-School) guy has 10 events with equal money and FedEx Cup points as everyone else. Pretty crappy odds.”

It seems not all tournaments are created equal.
