Bevacqua resigns from USGA post

U.S. Golf Association chief business officer Pete Bevacqua has resigned, effective immediately.

The move, confirmed Tuesday by USGA director of communications Rand Jerris, comes 19 days after Mike Davis was named the organization's executive director. Bevacqua was a candidate for the executive director post.

Bevacqua served as chief business officer since July '07, and he helped usher in the era of USGA corporate partnerships. He joined the USGA in 2000 as an in-house corporate counsel and also served as managing director of U.S. Open championships.

Bevacqua was not immediately available for comment.
