AUGUSTA, Ga. – Although he’s 3 over early in his second round, the cut currently is at 5 over, Brian Gay will have a big day on Friday regardless of score or schedule.
Gay is being inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame on Friday in Gainesville, Fla., but he won’t be in attendance. To celebrate the occasion, all of Gay’s family and friends in the gallery are wearing orange and blue and they have a special party waiting for him after his second round.
“It’s tough, you wait your whole life to get here and it’s the same weekend,” said Gay’s wife, Kimberly. “But this place is special. I told him, it’s like home.”
Playing the weekend at the Masters, which Gay is playing for the first time, will help ease his pain.
