Big hitters little scoring

RSS

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The gallery following Michelle Wie and defending champion Brittany Lincicome is fairly noisy for being witness to so few birdies Friday at the Kraft Nabisco.

The noise is coming from around the tee boxes with these two big hitters taking turns driving it past each other. The 'Big Wiesy' and 'Bam Bam' have both ripped drives of 300-plus yards today. The problem is they aren't hitting many fairways. Through 13 holes, Wie has hit just three fairways, but she is scrambling hard with just one bogey on the round. Through 31 holes of the championship, Wie has one birdie and one bogey. She missed a 2-foot birdie chance at her eighth hole (No. 17). Lincicome also was even par through 31 holes.
