Blowing off steam LPGA style

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – How does Katherine Hull blow off steam after a bad round?
She organizes pickup basketball games with some LPGA pals at tournament sites.
Or she sets up tennis matches.
'There's a lot of shoving in those basketball games,' Hull said. 'On the tennis courts, there's a lot of racket throwing and smashing of tennis balls. It's a great way to let off steam.'
Hull said these games become healthy outlets for pent-up frustration with golf's code of conduct preventing outbursts.
'If we did these things on the golf course, we'd get fined,' she said.
Hull counts Angela Stanford, Meredith Duncan, Katie Futcher and sometimes even Lorena Ochoa among those who play pickup basketball, though Ochoa's participation has leveled off. The last pickup games were staged at the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill and Corning Classic.
