Bradley posts 66-80 to miss cut in Phoenix

RSS

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – It’s a shame the Patriots aren’t in the Super Bowl this weekend. Keegan Bradley could have made the cross-country trek from Arizona to New Jersey to catch the game.

Of course, that didn’t appear to be the case after Bradley’s first-round 5-under 66. Just one day ago, Bradley was right in the thick of things at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

And then Friday came.

Bradley posted a 9-over 80 in Round 2, finishing on 4-over 146 to fall well outside the projected cut line of 1 under (second-round play was suspended because of darkness Friday night).

His 80 was low-lighted by a triple-bogey eight on the par-5 third. His second shot hit the cart path and went OB. He took a drop, then his next shot went left of green under a tree. He then tried to blast his shot into a bank so that it would pop up and trickle onto the green. He missed the bank entirely and sent the ball off the other side of the green. He then sent his next chip – and sixth shot – back over the other side of the green, then chipped it on and made the putt.

In addition to the triple, his round included eight bogeys to just two birdies.

The last time Bradley shot 80 or higher was in the third round of the 2013 Masters.
