Bringing out the best and worst

RSS

Marana, Ariz. –  Match play has a way of bringing out the best and worst in players, a fact that was hammered home as the Lee Westwood-Nick Watney match wore on late Thursday.

On the par-3 16th hole the world No. 1 missed a 3 1/2 footer for par to square the match at Dove Mountain. A hole later Watney lipped out a 3 1/2 footer for birdie to close out Westwood.

It is, as Jonathan Byrd once said, like playing five Sunday rounds in contention in one week.
