British players dominating the Florida Swing

RSS

After American players took the first nine PGA Tour events of the season, the United Kingdom has struck back in the last three weeks.

With Luke Donald’s win at the Transitions Championship on Sunday, the British Crown is poised to sweep the Florida Swing for the first time. Rory McIlroy won at PGA National in the Honda Classic, while Justin Rose captured the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral. Scot Martin Laird defends at Bay Hill this week.

American George Mcneill won the in Puerto Rico, opposite Cadillac, to notch the 10th American win in 2012.

The trio of U.K. wins marks the first such streak since Rose, Lee Westwood and Graeme Mcdowell won the Memorial, FedEx St. Jude and U.S. Open in 2010. That streak, too, featured a pair of Englishman and an Ulsterman.

Dating back to 1970, there is no other such run by the British.
