Bubble watch at Disney

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic is the final event for PGA Tour players to improve their position on the money list. Throughout the week GTC will track the day’s winners and losers in the annual cash crunch.

Top 30 (exempt into the 2013 Masters)

Charles Howell III (currently 73^rd in earnings, projected 68^th): It’s a longshot for the Augusta, Ga., native but following solid starts in his first two Fall Series events (T-11 Frys.com Open and T-7 at The McGladrey Classic) he has at least given himself a chance. He was within one stroke of the lead on Saturday before finishing his round triple bogey, bogey to tie for 16^th.

Jonas Blixt (35^th, projected 34^th). Blixt said he was viewing this week’s stop as a Masters qualifier, but after rounds of 70-71-68 he finds himself tied for 26^th and in need of a big Sunday if he’s going to take his first trip down Magnolia Lane.

Top 70 (exempt into all 2013 invitational tournaments)

Josh Teater (104^th, projected 78^th). Tied for second place after three rounds, he likely needs a solo second-place finish or better to crack the top 70 but thanks to his second consecutive 67 on Saturday his top-70 hopes remain alive.

William McGirt (70^th, projected 71^st). Bogey at the last dropped him into a tie for 39^th but he seems to be improving with each round (71-71-69).

Top 125 (fully exempt in 2013)

Vaughn Taylor (142^nd, projected 125^th). He played Nos. 10 through 14 in 4 under par on his way to a third-round 68 that left him tied for fifth place and in good position to avoid his second consecutive trip to Q-School.

Kevin Chappel (123^rd, projected 124^th). Although he remained inside the top-125 bubble despite a third-round 72 that left him tied for 16^th he will need to avoid another lapse like he had early in his round on Day 3 (bogeys at Nos. 6, 8 and 9) to stay there.

Top 150 (conditional status in 2013 and an exemption into final stage of Q-School)  

Camilo Villegas (150^th, projected 132^nd). He’s been perched near the lead all week thanks to an opening 65 and his 2-under 70 on Day 3 left him tied for fifth place and clinging to at least partial status next year.

Chris DiMarco (151^st, 151^st projected). There’s been no magic at the Magic Kingdom for the veteran and rounds of 72-71-71 have left him stuck on the wrong side of the money-list abyss and tied for 61^st. Unless he has a big Sunday DiMarco will finish outside the top 125 for the fourth time in his last five seasons.
