Calmer conditions but rain in the forecast

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The field will enjoy slightly calmer conditions on Sunday at TPC Sawgrass, although the PGA Tour will be scrambling to complete the round before an approaching storm arrives.

Wind gusts are forecast to reach 15 to 20 mph when the leaders tee off at 2:45 p.m., down from Saturday’s swirling 25 to 30 mph gales, but the chance of rain increases to 30 percent this afternoon.

Calmer conditions, however, don’t exactly mean lower scores. Sixteen of 18 pins for Round 4 are cut four paces or less from an edge and this year’s scoring average is already over par (72.53).
