PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Tiger Woods vs. another camera.
Woods loses a lot of these bouts, and it annoys him. He lost another Thursday in the first round of The Players Championship.
After knocking his tee shot at No. 3 into the rough over the back of the green, Woods had an awkward, feet-above-the-ball stance. In his back swing, he heard the click of a cell phone camera. Woods thumped his short chip 10 feet past the hole.
“Not in my swing,” Woods barked. “Put the cameras away.”
Woods missed the putt and made bogey on his way to a 74. Security could be heard looking for a fan in a green shirt with a cell phone camera.
“We do that every week out here,” Woods said. “The cameras are loud. People just don’t put it on silent. Guys were backing off. They got Hunter [Mahan] a couple times today and Rickie once, I believe.
“It can cost guys tournaments, because a shot on Thursday is the same as a shot on Sunday. So, it’s one of the difficult things about it.”
