Newly minted pro Patrick Cantlay has outlined a schedule of six events to begin his career.
Cantlay, who makes his professional debut this week at the Travelers Championship, will start with a run of three consecutive events, according to Sports Business Journal. The UCLA product will play next week in the AT&T National, then the following week in the Greenbrier Classic.
By turning pro, Cantlay forgoes his exemption into the British Open for being the No. 1 amateur in the World Amateur Golf Ranking as of last September. He will play the following week, however, in the RBC Canadian Open. He will also compete in the Wyndham Championship and Frys.com Open.
As a PGA Tour non-member, Cantlay can accept up to seven sponsor exemptions to make up a schedule of no more than 12 events. He will not earn FedEx Cup points, but will earn official money in an effort to crack the top 125 on the money list and gain status for 2013.
