It took Simon Khan about, oh, 24 hours to get over his playoff loss at the BMW PGA Championship.
On Monday, the 40-year-old journeyman shot rounds of 67-70 and earned one of 12 available spots at the 36-hole U.S. Open sectional qualifier at Walton Heath in England. Khan is now exempt into the Open at Merion, which begins June 13.
A six-man playoff at 3 under was required to determine the final five spots: John Parry, Chris Doak, Rikard Karlberg, Estanislao Goya, David Howell and 2012 European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal.
Karlberg was the odd man out in the playoff and is now the first alternate.
