SAN DIEGO – Among the litany of differences between the 2009 version of Phil Mickelson and the 2K10 installment – new putting stroke, slimmer build, etc. – is a distinct change of on-course philosophy.

After his opening 70 on the South Course Mickelson said he was taking a page from Jack Nicklaus' book and playing 'cautious' early.
