NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – If something doesn’t seem right with K.J. Choi this week it’s because it’s not. No, there’s nothing wrong with the Korean’s machine-like swing – which produced a course-record-tying 64 on Friday at Aronimink Golf Club – only the man carrying Choi’s bag.
Filling in for Choi’s regular caddie Andy Prodger is Steve Underwood, Tim Clark’s normal looper who is free this week as his man recovers from an elbow injury.
Underwood caddied for Choi occasionally early in the Korean’s PGA Tour career, including his maiden victory in 2002 in New Orleans. Prodger took the week off to attend his daughter’s graduation and is set to return to work in two weeks at the British Open.
