NORTON, Mass. – A lot of folks looking at the leaderboard at the TPC Boston are scratching their heads this morning.

“Who’s Marc Leishman?” is the refrain.

Leishman shot onto the leaderboard with six birdies and an eagle over his first 11 holes. The course record is 61, shared by Vijay Singh and Mike Weir.

Leishman, 25, is a PGA Tour rookie from Australia who earned his exempt playing privileges finishing 19th on the Nationwide Tour money list last year. He’s the 215th ranked player in the world. He’s 93rd in FedEx Cup points with the Playoffs scheduled to be cut to the top 70 in points for next week’s BMW Championship.
