Cink feeling right at home

ATLANTA – Little surprise that Stewart Cink has found his way atop the Tour Championship leaderboard. The Atlanta-area native is a member at East Lake, although it’s been more than two months since he’s played the course, and was a regular at the Donald Ross layout when he played at Georgia Tech, although the course and surrounding neighborhood have evolved since then.

One of Cink’s teammates at Georgia Tech remembered during practice rounds the group was subjected to an automatic press if anyone heard gunshots. And the rough-and-tumble neighborhood surrounding the club always produced gunshots.

“A guy on the team got held up once in the parking lot,” the teammate recalled on Wednesday.

With 30 of the game’s wealthiest players on site this week, there’s little chance of any gun play.
