Guess how many shots he trailed Woods by?
Yeah, six shots, the same deficit he trails Rory McIlroy by going into Saturday’s third round of the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club.
Yang also came from 10 shots behind in the final round to win the Korean Open last year.
“I have a strategy in mind,” Yang said of his pursuit of McIlroy. “It is just to zone out everyone around me and just play my game.”
Back in the ’09 PGA Championship, Yang made a big move on Saturday, shooting 67 to Woods’ 71 to cut the deficit to two shots going into Sunday. Yang closed with a 70 to Woods’ 75 to win by three.
