AUGUSTA, Ga. – Fred Couples’ famously rickety back was bothering him in Friday’s second round of the Masters.
Couples, the first-round leader, bogeyed the last three holes to fall to 3-under 141. He was alone atop the leaderboard after getting to 7 under on the front nine.
“For a while, I felt like I could go from first to last,' Couples said. 'But I kind of loosened up, and I got it around. But the shot on nine really killed me. It was a downhill lie and those don't feel good on regular days. And today that kind of threw me for a loop, but it's OK.'
