Course setup altered because of conditions

SANDWICH, England – The English summer has officially ended, or so it seems early Saturday along the south coast. A storm that would rate a name in the United States is blowing across Royal St. George’s and promises to add more uncertainty to an already jumbled leaderboard.

The leaders Darren Clarke and Lucas Glover aren’t scheduled to tee off until 3:05 p.m. (GMT), but already the wind has reached 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph . A steady drizzle won’t help the proceedings and the temperature is not expected to get above 63 degrees.

Officials adjusted St. George’s set up for the conditions, pushing up the tees at Nos. 3, 4 and 8.
