For Ben Crane, the math that makes up the Official World Golf Ranking worked out in his favor.
Beginning the week at No. 48, Crane had little wiggle room to remain inside the top 50 after the Arnold Palmer Invitational to earn a berth into the Masters. But despite missing the cut at Bay Hill, Crane dropped just one spot to 49th. He’ll be going to Augusta National.
Obviously elated to make his fifth Masters appearance, Crane tweeted with glee:
“Wow what a day sitting at 48th world ranking and top 50 get into Masters after this wk. I dropped to 49 and got in & now tied for the lead!!”
While Sportsbook.com has the American at 125 to 1 to win the year’s first major, Crane thought a line from the movie “Dumb and Dumber” was more apropos.
“(What are the) chances of green jacket like u & a player like me (getting) together? 1 in 10? More like 1 in a million. So u r sayin there's a chance I hear ya,” he tweeted.
