Creamer in position

RSS

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. – In just her third competitive round of the season, Paula Creamer has put herself in position to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Creamer withdrew after the first round of the Honda PTT Thailand LPGA event in February and had hand surgery in March. She has been told that her left hand has healed and that she can do no further damage but hitting golf balls is very painful. She fought through that pain to put 67-65 on the board and will begin the final round in second place one shot behind MJ Hur.

Creamer is one of the LPGA's top draws and it’s great for the tour that she has returned to competition. I just hope for her sake that she hasn't come back too soon. Playing with pain can cause unforeseen consequences because it’s very easy to subconsciously make swing adjustments without being aware of them in an effort to alleviate that pain. Many players coming back from injury have commented that they should have taken more time. But, based on her play, it’s hard to make that argument with Creamer.
