SAN DIEGO – As if PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem didn’t have enough worries with players migrating to Europe it seems even John Daly is eyeing life on the Continent, but only on selected weeks.
Following a first-round 67 at the Farmers Insurance Open, Daly lashed out at officials at the Bob Hope Classic and Waste Management Phoenix Open for not extending him a sponsor exemption this year.
“I'll never go back to the Hope and I'll never go back to Phoenix, no matter what happens. I won't even send letters anymore. I'm not saying that to ditch the tournaments,” Daly said.
“I'm just saying that if you look at my past, everything the (Phoenix officials) have ever wanted me to do for 20, 17, 16 years I'm sure I did it for them. I helped get celebrities to go to the Hope. I helped them out. I went to their parties and did everything for them.”
As a result Daly said he’d go to Europe during the Hope and Waste Management.
