This week DL3 is facing a double-edged qualifying sword. If he can crack the top 50 he’s in at Bethpage for the U.S. Open and Turnberry for the British Open. At 54th in the world, MIT’s best – or something like that – figured Love needed to finish 14th or better at the Byron Nelson to crack the top 50. After Round 1 he was 100 spots (114th) shy of that number.
On Friday, however, he rebounded with a 64 to move into the top 20.
Bethpage and Turnberry will be better with Love in the field, but if not may we offer a humble new career option: accountant.
