Davis Love III Looking to Earn Spot for Majors

Quietly, the Byron Nelson Championship is a week with major implications for players looking to play the season’s middle lineup of Grand Slam events.
The deadline for cracking the top 50 in the world ranking to earn spots in next month’s U.S. Open and July’s British Open is Monday and there are plenty of familiar names looking to avoid qualifying.
Davis Love III, currently 54th in the world, is in this week’s field, is signed up to play Monday’s 36-hole British Open hole qualifier in Dallas, plans to play the next two weeks at Colonial and Memorial and is signed on for the 36-hole U.S. Open qualifier the Monday after Jack Nicklaus’ event in Ohio.
For those scoring at home, that’s four tournaments in three weeks. Not bad for a 45-year-old with a rebuilt ankle.
