Day remains realistic, but ready to 'win a lot more'

RSS

DORAL, Fla. – The rap on Jason Day prior to last month’s WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship was that he was a talented player, but he needed to win more.

His victory at Dove Mountain will likely quiet the external critics, but not the Australian’s own ideas of where he should be in his career.

“I feel like this is kind of a springboard for me to go out and play better golf, and hopefully win a lot more,” he said on Tuesday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

The Australian, however, remains realistic despite his recent hot streak (he also won the World Cup in November).

“You guys have been blessed by seeing Tiger Woods win for so many years and being No. 1 for I think 12 years now that people in general think it's easy to win,” he said. “It's hard. It's not easy to go out there and just do it.”
