DeLaet gets off to good start in FedEx Cup Playoffs

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Graham DeLaet’s final-round 65 at The Barclays did a lot more than just earn him some cash while moving him up the leaderboard.

Starting at 34th on the FedEx Cup points standings, the score should be enough to move him safely inside the top-20.

Why is that so important? Because it gives him an inside track on getting into the Tour Championship, which in turn comes with the perks of getting a spot in the field at each of the year’s first three major championships in 2014, none of which DeLaet is already in.

“Coming in here, I knew that I would either need probably one really good week to get to Atlanta or a couple really solid ones or three kind of top-15, top-20 type finishes,” he said, “so it's definitely a good start.”

DeLaet is already safely in the field for each of the next two playoff events, the Deutsche Bank Championship and BMW Championship.
