Despite broken toe, Glover tees up at Wyndham

It wasn’t the best start for Lucas Glover on Thursday at the Wyndham Championship, but then just making it to the first tee at Sedgefield Country Club was something of an accomplishment.

Glover awoke early Wednesday to check on his 3-month-old baby, Lucille, and accidently caught his foot on the crib, breaking the bone on the middle toe of his right foot.

Glover withdrew from Wednesday’s pro-am and received treatment for the broken bone and a cut.

“He was dead set on playing,” said Mac Barnhardt, Glover’s manager with Crown Sports. “He had to withdraw last year because of his knee and he considers this a home game. He’s determined to play if he can.”

Glover, who was born in Greenville, S.C., and went to college at Clemson, was 2 over through four holes.
