KAPALUA, Hawaii – You can refer to Dustin Johnson as Mr. 54.
Since 2006, there have been two PGA Tour events shortened to 54 holes – and Johnson has claimed each of them, winning the 2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and 2011 Barclays.
This week, he’s looking to make it a three-peat at Kapalua, where he’s already off to a hot start, after rounds of 69-66 that put him at 11 under and three shots clear of the field.
'I did everything pretty well (today),' Johnson said. 'It wouldn't matter if it was 72 holes or 54. Tomorrow is still the last round and there's 18 holes to play, so got to get the job done.'
