In respect to his historic 2011, world No. 2 Luke Donald was awarded with honorary life membership by the European Tour on Wednesday.
Last year, Donald became the first player to win the money list on the European Tour and PGA Tour in the same season. He also became No. 1 in the world for the first time when he beat Lee Westwood in a playoff for the BMW PGA Championship, a title he defends this week.
Donald is the 41st player to be bestowed the honor.
Major winners Louis Oosthuizen, Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke have all previously been awarded honorary life membership. Donald admitted he wants to joint their company as a major champion.
“I’m not going to shy away from it,' he said. 'That’s the one thing missing on my resume – I want to win majors.'
