By week’s end, we could have another change at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking, according to OWGR projections.
Luke Donald and Lee Westwood both have chances to overtake Martin Kaymer at No. 1 with victories this week.
If Donald wins the Heritage, he becomes the 15th different player to gain the top ranking in the 25-year history of the world rankings. He would become the third different player to hold the top spot since Tiger Woods lost it in the fall.
Lee Westwood also can regain the No. 1 ranking, but only if he wins this week’s Indonesian Masters on the Asian Tour and Donald doesn’t win. If Westwood and Donald both win, Donald is the new No. 1. If neither wins, Kaymer remains No. 1.
Westwood overtook Woods as No. 1 on Oct. 31 of last year and held the top spot for 17 weeks before Kaymer gained it. Kaymer is in his eighth week atop the world rankings.
