Donald would like to channel Hogan

DORAL, Fla. – Luke Donald’s liking his form heading into this week’s WGC-Cadillac Championship, but the No. 3 player in the world is planning some time off to get ready for the Masters.

After playing Doral this week, Donald will take three weeks off before going to Augusta National.

“I like Tampa, but that would be five tournaments in a row for me, which I think my limit really is four before getting a little bit burned out,” Donald said. “Historically, I have not played that great at Bay Hill, and I've played even worse at Houston. So, it's nothing against the events, it's just you go and play places you think you're going to be successful at, and I don't have the greatest confidence for those two events, unfortunately.”

Donald said he’ll go to Augusta National on the Friday or Saturday before the year’s first major. Before that, he’ll ready his game on the greens at The Bear’s Club near his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He would also like to practice at nearby Seminole.

“It worked for Ben Hogan,” Donald said of Seminole’s famously quick greens.
