Donalds father recovering in England

THOUSAND OAKS, Calf. – The Chevron World Challenge field was short one caddie and almost one contender on Friday.

Christian Donald, the brother of Luke Donald who caddies for Paul Casey, flew home to England Thursday night to be with his father, Colin, who underwent emergency surgery on Wednesday.

Colin Donald, 75, was in stable condition according to Luke Donald after being rushed to a London-area hospital with a bleeding ulcer.

“He wasn’t very far away from passing away. Whenever you have a ruptured blood vessel it’s serious,” said Luke Donald, who considered withdrawing from the Chevron before his father stabilized. “I wouldn’t be here if I felt like he wasn’t out of danger.”

Luke Donald, who is in fourth place at Sherwood, said he will head home to England following the Chevron and Casey replaced Christian Donald with a local caddie for the week.
