Dufner not interested in changing to long putter

FORT WORTH, Texas – Not sure this is going to quiet the brewing long-putter debate in golf, but on Tuesday at Colonial, Jason Dufner ' one of just two two-time winners on the PGA Tour this season following his victory last week at the Byron Nelson Championship ' said the longer-than-standard-length version is not for him.

I don't think it's really any better to be honest with you. I've practiced with it, Dufner said. I guess you would call it a case study this off season where I hit close to 500 putts. Probably actually closer to a thousand putts with a belly putter, and with a standard putter, each different lengths. I didn't see any statistical evidence that proved that I putted better with it. So why use it?

This is worth nothing only because Dufner, who is emerging as one of Americas most consistent performers, has never been considered one of the circuits best putters. He currently ranks 122nd in strokes gained putting, which is actually below his 2011 ranking (116th).
