David Duval will be working in the broadcast both at this week’s U.S. Open. Duval will work for ESPN during their Open coverage, serving as analyst for the online-only coverage of featured groups on Thursday and Friday.

He failed to qualify for the U.S. Open, falling short in the Memphis sectional by six shots.

The 2001 British Open winner nearly captured this championship in 2009, finishing co-runner-up to Lucas Glover at Bethpage Black. Despite two made cuts in 12 starts this year, Duval insists his playing days are not finished.

“I don’t want it to be seen as a transition (to television work) because I don’t believe my playing career is over,” he said.

The 40-year-old had success the last time the U.S. Open was at Olympic Club, finishing T-7 with Lee Westwood and Jeff Maggert in 1998.
