Earl misses TPC Boston

NORTON, Mass. – So much for Earl.

The hurricane that had been zeroing in on the Deutsche Bank Championship for almost a week veered east late Friday and weakened considerably. As a result TPC Boston received just .4 inches of rain and no reported damage.

In fact, the second round went off on schedule early Saturday and, after playing lift, clean and place for Round 1, players were instructed to play the ball down for the second round.

Cool, sunny skies and a slight breeze seemed to agree with Tiger Woods, who struggled to an opening 72 but is 3 under through six holes and back inside the cut line.
