Ernst win makes Langley first alternate for Players

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If Scott Langley doesn’t make it into this week’s Players Championship field, he’ll have fellow rookie Derek Ernst to blame.

Previously, Langley was prepared to be the final player to make the event, his spot solidified as long as a non-qualified player didn’t win the Wells Fargo Championship to take it away from him.

Enter Ernst.

With his first career win, amongst the spoils he received a spot in the field at TPC Sawgrass, leaving Langley as the first alternate going into the week.

Following his win, Ernst revealed that he had previously planned to head home to Las Vegas for a week of practice since he wasn’t in The Players.
