Next week's Honda Classic will be host to seven of the top 13 players in the world rankings.
With the commitments finalized Friday, the field will feature four of the top 10 in the world and 22 of the top 50. That makes it the second strongest “regular' tournament of the PGA Tour season. It makes it the deepest “regular' tournament of the European season. OK, it’s not a European Tour event, but it’s got a strong European flavor to it.
No. 1 Lee Westwood (England), No. 4 Graeme McDowell (Northern Ireland), No. 7 Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and No. 9 Luke Donald (England) lead the field.
No. 11 Ernie Els, No. 12 Ian Poulter, No. 13 Matt Kuchar, No. 17 Robert Karlsson and No. 20 Louis Oosthuizen also are scheduled to play. Count Rickie Fowler, Anthony Kim, Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Camilo Villegas, Y.E. Yang, Vijay Singh and David Duval among the headliners.
Only the Northern Trust Open has featured more top-10 and more top-50 players among regular PGA Tour tops.
