Europeans playing intense matches in Solheim practice

PARKER, Colo. – The Europeans are turning up the intensity even in practice at the Solheim Cup this week.

Captain Liselotte Neumann paired up her players for four-ball matches Tuesday in their first full day of practice at Colorado Golf Club. They juggled pairings and played more matches against Wednesday. Neumann is having staff keep detailed statistics over the three days of practice to gauge how her players are performing going into Friday’s start of the competition.

“We’re doing stats on their practice rounds, and we’re trying to get them really into the tournament mood,” Neumann said. “We have quite a few helpers following them around, keeping track of their scores and fairways and greens and how they’re getting along.”

Solheim Cup rookies Charley Hull, Caroline Masson and Jodi Ewart Shadoff played a practice round with Caroline Hedwall on Wednesday.  Suzann Pettersen and Catriona Matthew played together on the back nine.

The first-session foursomes pairings will be announced Thursday.
