Europe's Ryder Cup comeback inspires Solheim Cup team

PARKER, Colo. – Last year’s epic Sunday comeback by Europe in the Ryder Cup still lingers for the European Solheim Cup team.

Many prominent European men’s players have sent words of encouragement to their women’s counterparts, including Colin Montgomerie, Sergio Garcia and Jose Maria Olazabal, European captain last year at the Ryder Cup at Medinah.

Solheim Cup rookie Beatriz Recari knows her European team has never won on American soil, but says watching last year’s Ryder Cup performance shows that anything can happen.

“If you’re not inspired by that I don’t know what is going to get you inspired,” Recari said Wednesday at Colorado Golf Club. “If they can do it, so can we. But I’m confident that we’re going to start really strong from the beginning and we’re just going to be fearless out there and be aggressive, because everybody is reminding us how many times that we haven’t won in the United States. There is nothing we have to lose.”
