ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – PGA Tour players are also fans of the game and it was little surprise that many of the players on hand for this week’s stop at Sea Island Resort watched Monday’s dramatic final day at the Ryder Cup.
David Toms watched the final holes, while Ben Curtis said he hadn’t watched any of the matches. Boo Weekley, however, watched about as much of the event as one could given the time differences and the weather delays.
Having played on the 2008 U.S. team that won at Valhalla, Weekley said captain Corey Pavin did everything he could to retain the cup. He just wasn’t sure about some of the American side’s trendy wardrobe selections.
“I might have had to break the mold a little bit,” Weekley said. “When it started raining and those rain suits started leaking I would have broken out some of my camo.”
