It's time to 'fear the beards' on Tour

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – Maybe it’s a playoff thing, or maybe it’s just a laziness thing, whatever the reason ’tis the season for facial hair on the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods emerged from his post-Players Championship hiatus sporting the beginnings of a beard, not that he would win a facial hair contest with Lucas Glover whose now-famous beard was actually trimmed up for this week’s AT&T National.

Even Tour rookie Kyle Stanley is getting into the act. “Looks good doesn’t it?” he asked late Tuesday as he prepared at Aronimink Golf Club.

In addition to the 5 o’clock shadow Stanley also is sporting something just short of a buzz cut. “I’m mixing everything up,” he smiled.
