Finchem cant avoid Tiger talk

Perhaps more so than anyone else, PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem is counting the days until Tiger Woods’ return to the Tour fold, but not because the world No. 1 will be a ratings and attention boost for the circuit, which he will be.

Finchem longs for the “return” so he can stop answering questions he has no answers to. During a 30-minute press conference call with officials from Farmers Insurance to announce a four-year tournament extension for the Tour’s Torrey Pines stop the commissioner was asked six questions involving Woods and just two about the new sponsor.

“He’s indicated he’ll give us reasonable notice (when he will come back) because we do have some work to do,” Finchem said.

Finchem also said the Tour has been working on contingency plans with various tournaments to prepare for the media crush that will accompany Woods’ return. Finally, however, the commish had enough.

“No idea when he’s playing,” Finchem laughed. What Finchem does know is that the “return” can’t come soon enough.
