DUBLIN, Ohio – Thanks to the American’s rally in the final foursome session and a 14-8 lead at the Presidents Cup, the U.S. side needs to win just four of today’s 12 singles matches.
Considering how the week has gone for the Americans, those four points could be secured within the first six or seven matches, which would leave the rest of the field on the course and the cup decided.
Sunday’s forecast calls for more storms around 4 p.m., which could mean more delays or, at the least, another moist and muddy round for players with nothing to gain. That, however, may be the only option according to tournament regulations.
“They are to play their match to completion after the cup has been decided,” tournament director Steve Carman said. “I'm sure we would evaluate the situation and try and make a logical decision, but I can't tell you that we would force them to finish, but I think we would expect them to try and finish.”
