ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Graeme McDowell is trying his darndest to focus solely on this Open Championship and a chase for another major but it hasn’t been easy. Everywhere he turns people give him a pat on the back for winning the U.S. Open last month at Pebble Beach.
The 30-year-old from Northern Ireland has done well through 36 holes after shooting 68-71 and stands at 5-under 139.
“My focus is coming back to me,” McDowell said. “It’s been difficult with players and spectators and just people really congratulating me on Pebble and still kind of living four weeks ago. I don’t really want to move on, but I’ve also got to get refocused on the task at hand.”
