CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Since Tiger Woods’ debacle at Firestone last week, much of the talk surrounding the world’s No. 1 golfer has been about the time he’s spent at Whistling Straits with swing instructor Sean Foley. But while Foley is in Wisconsin, he also has an eye on the action at the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Charlotte Country Club where pupil Jennifer Kirby is in contention.
Kirby, a sophomore at University of Alabama, has been working with Foley for four years. The two have been in communication this week via text message.
Kirby defeated Doris Chen 3-and-2 Thursday to move on to Friday's quarterfinal against Kristen Park.
