DALLAS – Rickie Fowler is getting pretty adept at these inner-city trick shots.
Last year, Fowler made a hole-in-one on a blind shot at a Red Bull Off Course event in Washington D.C., and he nearly repeated the act in Dallas on Monday afternoon.
Hitting from a teebox on the fourth story of an apartment complex across the street from the American Airlines Center, Fowler defeated Colt Knost by hitting three of 10 shots over a building and onto a small green constructed in AT&T Plaza for the event some 160 yards away.
Competing in a swirling, gusting wind, Fowler’s best shot landed just 30 inches from the hole.
Knost, meanwhile, struggled with the shot after knocking a few tight from closer range during the opening two rounds of the competition. At one point, a frustrated Knost tried to play a shot off of the arena’s façade and back onto the green, only to send observers scurrying for safety.
For his effort, Fowler received a red jacket patterned after the annual prize given to the Masters champion each year.
