Y.E. Yang’s hybrid approach shot into the 72nd hole at the PGA Championship put an end to Tiger Woods’ Grand Slam agenda for 2009 and a serious cramp in the marketing side of the PGA’s Grand Slam of Golf, which features the season’s four major champions.
The cynics said without Woods there would be plenty of tickets available for the grand clash, yet after reviewing U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover’s travel itinerary, it’s clear he’s doing everything he can to pad the galleries in Bermuda.
As a thank you to all the members of “Team Lucas,” Glover will bring his wife, caddie, two managers, his parents, sports psychologist, swing coach and fitness guru along with their families to the island for the year’s most exclusive fourball.
All total, Glover’s entourage – which travels to the event this Sunday and home next Thursday after the two-day tournament – will include 25 people, but no dogs. Iris, Glover’s miniature long-haired dachshund, is staying home, at least until next year’s Grand Slam.
